What maximum potential does my computer have?

Here are my specs (again):

Processor- AMD X2 @ 1.6 GHz
RAM- 2 GB DDR3 (520MB reserved)
Graphics- ATI/AMD Radeon HD 6310
HDD- 500GB
Windows 10 (Shipped with Win7 Home Premium x64)

Generally, I'm not super high-tech.
What is the maximum potential for my computer given it was a value purchase? What can I do to make it more optimal in performance?

It all depends on what you want to do on the computer.

The only thing that might be a little problem is that I have a certain indie game title I want to play, but it also has 3D graphics.

Otherwise, what stuff other than browsing/email can a computer be used for, especially one like mine?

I'd definitely upgrade your RAM, 2GB isn't much by today's standards. Research what your motherboard can take maximum, I'd try to go to 4-6GB myself.

I'm pretty sure my motherboard handles max 8GB. I wonder if I should just invest that money in a brand new computer though.

RAM usually isn't terribly expensive, to be honest. You could probably upgrade to a useful amount for under $30, and 6GB would be more than sufficient.

What about the processor? Will RAM still make a difference?

I'll be honest, 1.6 isn't much. Mine is 2.6, from 2009, and even that's likely well outdated.

Honestly... maybe wipe the OS on that, install XP if you can find drivers for the hardware, and get a new PC to run a modern OS. Keep that one as a backup PC like I do, I find it useful to have a second PC at times anyway, and a native XP machine can be useful for older games.

Install XP on that computer? It's not even IDE-compatible. Besides there are no official XP drivers from the manufacturer.

The backup idea sounds great though.

Then maybe as a Windows 7 PC then.
