Solved What mouse to use?

I plan to buy a new mouse more suitable to GFX work, no gaming at all. It must allow very tiny and accurate cursor movement and I have been advised it be a laser sensor.
It doesn't need 22 buttons or add-able weights, flashing lights, or customizable size things. I have this one in mind.

What about a mouse pad? They seem to carry "Pro gamers'" ;abels and such but I don't see much use for them since optical mouses came about.

Gary, a gaming mouse is what your link is and probably what you need. With adjustable DPI you can really slow it down which enables pretty exact movements. The buttons can be programed too for other things besides games. Most come with software to program what the buttons do. This is the one I use. It is cheaper than the one you picked and DPI can be slowed to 200, which is pretty slow. It's cheaper too.

+1 for a G500. Its a very good mouse. I found it to be a tad high though as i have pretty small hands. I have arthritis in my wrist's and due to the hight of the G500 my wrist's were bent all the time causing some pain. If it wasn't for me having girly hands then it would have been a mouse i'd kept.
It was for those reason's i bought a RAT 5 Cyborg 5 Wired Gaming Mouse 5600dpi (Black): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories as it was so adjustable which saved a lot of grief in my hands and wrist's. I know it has all the buttons you don't want but it's a very accurate mouse with a twin lazer i think. As with others you can set the dpi to whatever level you want and program any of the buttons for to siute your needs.

Hiyya Gary I know you are not keen on Gigas but this looks pretty good and for the pad mate those fine fabric ones I find excellent with the laser I have.

Gary, speaking of Gigabyte, I have this one. It is a good mouse and does well for me, but the DPI will not go down as low as the G500. But, it has served me well, how good it would be for what you need, I don't know.

I've been itching to try the SteelSeries Ikari Laser mouse. It's got switchable DPI/CPI settings, a really high quality laser, and I've heard it is super comfortable. As far as a mousing surface, go with a "gamer" hard type pad such as this: SteelSeries 4HD

Something like that will let you have much finer control, but will still be good for "regular" work and doesn't cost as much as special graphics equipment that only works good for doing graphics work.

Out of all the Roccat,Razor mats i've had i found the Corsair Vengeance MM200 to be the better one with my mouse. Corsair Vengeance® MM200 Gaming Mouse Mat Standard Edition - Gaming Mouse Mats - Gaming Peripherals It's nice and cheap too, cheapest i've owned infact.

Well thank you all for the useful input.

I will not buy anything labeled Gigabyte, I don't think, having a failed motherboard and mouse from them. The Ikari has been discontinued, Kelly, but looks like a fine mouse. I had the opportunity to see the steel series at Best Buy and it seem very nice and well made.

The consensus is to use some sort of mouse pad then?

I used to use one of these: Kensington - Laptop & Desktop - Trackballs - Graphic Designers - Expert Mouse® It even worked great for gaming, once you get used to the thing. I know that's not your intended use, but I loved it for that.

I use this mouse. With the trackball you have extreme precision. I do a lot of Gimp work with it.

I don't know why that page said it was discontinued as they still make the laser version and an optical version. You can still get the laser version online. SteelSeries makes good stuff though, can't go wrong with them.

Thanks everyone for your input. I get the Steel Series Sensei mouse after looking at a bunch of others.
It's a nice fit for me and so far it does exactly what I had hoped for. I also like the many adjustments that are possible with its software.

Just set out mouse traps and when a catch one I will send it to you.
I have fairly large hands and have a logitech one for laptop and a Larger one on my desktop.
Both serve my purpose when coloring in between the lines.

One feature I like is what they call ExactAim which allows the cursor to slow way down which is handy when making fine adjustments in graphics. Helps me to color inside the lines too. It is pricey but so far I think it's worth it.
