What size disk will I need

I want to burn some disks that are more than tow hours long. Can someone please tell me what size / type disk I will need and a suitable app for doing it.

I have used ImgBurn and Power2go before but I don't know if these will do it.

DVD-R is about 2 hrs. You can compress video into smaller file sizes, you can fit more recording time (4, 6, or 8 hours) on the same, 4.7 GB 2-hour-sized disc. Typically, DVD recorders have 1, 2, 4, and 6 hour record modes. Some DVD recorders also feature other modes, such as 1.5, 3, 8, and even 10 hour modes.

P2G should handle this job with no problem.

If you have a Blu-ray burner you have a LOT more time.
A single-layer disc can hold 25GB.
A dual-layer disc can hold 50GB.
Over 9 hours of high-definition (HD) video on a 50GB disc.
About 23 hours of standard-definition (SD) video on a 50GB disc.

What WHS said you can always shrink the file size to fit a disc

If you want to use a legit program that takes care of all of that in a couple clicks I suggest you get this Bling 123 Copy DVD 2013 (PC) 8097526 - Micro Center)

I use this one and it pretty much takes care of everything even back up movies you bought from the store

One more thing this will copy your disc exactly to how they are now so that means all the adds and subs will be added

Yep well I have the Blu ray but as long as it doesn't make the result Blu ray fair enough.

Now the file size I will have to find as the disks are for backing up (store bought) the bling looks good though budget is a bit tight right now

As far as shrinking them will this make the quality less? plus I shall have to do soem research on doing that anyway.

That program I showed you has a blu ray version too I would look into that also it works well with VLC

I have my dads rig setup like that he was pretty impressed

Shrinking does lose quality that is why I showed you that program it will copy it as is with out all the extra ripping or go to the 123copy site www.123copydvd.com they give a free trial

Quality is a must and try the free trial for the Blu ray I think it is 10 days or so and see how it works for you it also will ask you to install a program called Booya it is a part of the package and it is safe

Ok Solar I'll do both HD and Blu ray though I must admit on my TV and PVR the Blu ray doesn't seem to make much difference.

Doesn't make much difference it still looks DVD quality but in some scenes of the movie you can see the blu ray crispness but generally it is the same till you get a high res TV

1080P should give it a all around better look as it is needed for the true Blu ray experience
