what the best system cleaner and system optimiser to use daily n weekly?i got ccleaner i dont know if glary utilities wise system care auslogics software system ninja privacy eraser privacymantra or any other good tool that worth getting free or paid because some say microsoft dont recognise registry cleaners as safe???i wanna do daily scan or weekly thank you

Windows 7 does not need system optimisers. In fact in most cases they cause more problems than they fix. A lot of Forum members here use Ccleaner, which helps keep the system clean, but it also cleans up history & other files from internet browsers. Ccleaner does have a registry cleaner, but it should only be used with care & be sure to use the included registry back up before doing so.

You should also run Win Disc Clean Up, which should be listed in Control Panel. Run this as Administrator & it will clean up old finished with Windows Updates & some Temp files no longer required. Keep in mind that Win Disc Clean Up does not remove old files until you reboot the computer.

Other than the above 2, Windows 7 does not need anything else to keep it in good working order. If you leave your computer on all the time, which some people do, it is a good idea to reboot it occasionally.

Of course make sure you keep Windows Updated, which is most important, particularly with the current Ransomware scare around the world.

start > run > msconfig > startup
start > run > msconfig > services > hide microsoft services

and make sure nothing is there that you don't want

I use Ccleaner set at default and Windows 7 built in Disk Cleanup.
That is it.

I also do as johnhoh suggested. I watch msconfig/Startup and Non Microsoft
Services.

All those 'tuneup' 'speedup' fix everything programs will do nothing but cause all kinds of hell.

Keeping your system clean of infections is also needed.

what is suggested for preventing 'the internet' from contaminating the pc? no doubt a once reliable site could turn malicious. are all the standard on-board/Win7 utilities adequate for this? -thx

The only built in security other that Windows Updates is 'Defender', and in my opinion 'Defender' is not enough.

One needs to pick a anti virus and a anti malware program to add to the security of a system.

Is the free Microsoft Security Essentials 'enough'? I notice that Windows Update regularly contains updates to this program (at no charge).

I've been using Sytem Mechanic Professional for around ten years now without issue. Although some might think this is over kill and that many of the tools it uses are already found in Windows 7 I like the way it organizes all the tools into one neat console. I also like the fact that it has a pretty good virus scanner and registry cleaner. Because I bought the "family" plan I can put it on as many PCs in the house as I wish (which I find is an added bonus) and I don't have to worry about losing files that I accidentally deleted because of the registry hive. These sorts of programs are a matter of personal choice and taste. They may not be essential but some of them can be incredibly convenient. System Mechanic Pro is very user friendly although you may have to dig a bit to get at some of the more extensive tools.

Personaly, seems that disk cleanup (using administrator), default windows defrag app and clearing your temp folder is enough to keep Windows 7 fast and steady...

I used TuneUp Utilities before... just a placeebo...

What about Windows Defender Offline?
I usually run that once a year or so, it often finds little things.
But I tried last month and it no longer updates, errors out. I've tried cd and usb.
Did Microsoft stop supporting that? Will it work if you manually put the current definitions on the media? And how is that done?
