Solved What to do about "windows.old" files

I came across 43 gigabytes of windows.old files. What are they? Are they required or can I delete them? Listed between the red arrows.

Hello John,

Yes, you can use an option in the tutorial below to safely delete the Windows.old folder. The Windows.old folder is a copy of your previous installation when an upgrade or in-place upgrade (aka: repair install) was performed.

windows.old contains folders from previous windows, you won't need windows and program files folders but it also contains one more folder (users/documents settings) wherein you can find documents,music,videos and pictures. you might want to copy them before you decide to remove them. to remove windows.old using disk cleanup is a good option.
