Hi I have just installed Windows 7 and find 'what u hear' to be missing. I have 64 bit Windows and Soundblaster Audigy SE. I have tried enabling devices in' recording devices' but no luck what so ever. Does anyone know a way around this? It worked fine when I had Vista. The Soundblaster driver is up to date.
Thanks

Hi and welcome

You and I both found out the hard way that creatives 64 bit driver isnt ready for prime time. Have you trie dinstalling the vista driver in compatibility mode?

the only other way I have found is kludgey and uses a cable

Hi Thanks for that, I will give it a try. I also thought about a cable. 2 male to 1 female splitter out of the speaker socket and in to the line in.
I will give the Vista driver a go first.
Thanks for your help.

You have to use an older SoundBlaster driver for the Audigy SE to get the What You Hear in Vista, and if you use the Vista driver in Win 7 I assume (but that may get me in trouble) that it will work the same way. I found that working on the problem for a client with Vista. I think the 1.04.077 drivers are the ones to use.

The client had upgraded to the latest driver version and lost the what you hear (he wanted the sound enhancements application (e.g. reverb, chorus, etc)) and with that version the What You Hear is not available. If the latest driver is used the sound enhancements are available but not What you Hear.

There's really no use for it. If you want to save sounds on a webpage, there are plugins and software to save the streams straight to HDD. No quality loss too, from the actual stream itself.

Thanks for that. I tried using the Vista driver, but no luck. I will try this, otherwise its the cable idea.
