That's good to know, Barman but for a first test I didn't want to make it harder then absolutely necessary. I was kind of "freaked" by all the messages I used to read about the lack of proper 64-Bit drivers (not that I have exotic hardware). But seeing how some games already don't run as expected I think I made the right decision.
IMHO with 2GB there is no real gain in using a 64Bit version.
Or am I too far off with my opinion?

Not a gamer so that's not an issue for me.

I originally loaded it onto that machine for compatibility tests and have had no driver issues whatsoever, so have just left it there.

64 bit is not just the memory advantages on win7 as the system also runs more securely, due to systems only available to x64.

Personally I think that it's essential to go x64 with anything more than 3GB and I do intend to add another 2GB to the machine in question sometime

Back OT..Ultimate x86 but thinking of going to x64 (had to revert to x86 due to instability after having no issues for 3 weeks )...

I use every version of windows 7 except for enterprise and starter, depending the machine or virtual machine I'm using ATM.. Right now I'm using a Ultimate x64 on a Dell latitude XT-2 with a 128GB SSD

Yes, but with 2Gbs it won't be huge.

I would not recommend an upgrade until at 3Gbs, but there is really no reason to NOT get x64 with a new comp anymore.

I don't think there's any good reason not to install a 64 bit OS on a system that can run it... even if it only has 2GB RAM. I've noticed starting new processes while already running multiple heavy cpu-intensive processes e.g. opening up a webpage with windows update already running on new install while adding a 200GB music folder to WMP ..is less likely to freeze 64 bit windows 7 than in the exact same hardware running 32 bit windows 7. The reason.. a 64 bit OS is better able to fully utilize a multi-core system
