My wife was thinking about getting a laptop and I was wondering, if it could even be used wireless with Dishnet/wildblue service and my present tower which ha an Asus Z87A motherboard. This is all new to me just let me know if I need to supply more info. I have a NETGEAR N600 WNDR3400 router my daughter gave me but I have no clue how or if, it can even be used if not what could be if anything? Thanks for all help! :) Also, both computers will be used for general browsing on the net and the wife plays a few games on Facebook and pogo and we never even use a third of our bandwidth limits currently with the desktop alone. :)

I've seen a Wireless Router attached by Ethernet between the dish controller and a Desktop then the Wi-Fi set up for a Notebook to gain access through to the Internet through the controller, one was a Linksys and the other was a Netgear. One was Hughes Net and the other was Wild Blue, another that didn't work so well was Star Band but experience over time has suggested to me it may have been the Belkin Router.

Hi p5200,

In addition, you should be able to connect your Netgear router with the Modem provided by your ISP. The only thing that you might have to do with the Netgear router is.... do a reset to the factory default setting if this has been previously used. Here's a simple guide.

Please let us know if you encounter any issues setting up your wireless network. You may create a separate Thread for this.
