as far as i am aware, psu's do not have a clock - so how can they possibly be overclocked?

i don't know what the law is in the us of a, but over here that would be certainly fall foul of the 'trade descriptions act'.

i would boycott the company out of principle.

Actually, I think the company is not necessarily doing a bad thing. Most novices shopping for power supplies just pick the biggest raw wattage number in their budget. Kingwin is telling you that this unit is energy efficient at 500W but can handle 600W when it needs to.

I agree that it's really just a marketing thing, though.

Don't want to be judgemental here, or preempt the reviews but I think I'd avoid this manufacturer, if I were in the market for a PSU.

I find it questionable. Are they saying it is a 600W power supply, but if you only use 500W it's 92% efficient? Sounds like a dicey sales pitch. Watts = Volts x Amps. You'd have to increase either voltage, or amperage (or both). Your household voltage should be the same always, so they are saying the amps (a measure of the amount of electric charge passing a point in an electric circuit in a specified period) will increase? Very odd. A Guy
