Hah im willing to pay for it =) I dont want a free one =)
The best driver update tool is your keyboard. You know what hardware you have and where you got it. If you choose not to be on the providers mailing lists, check the appropriate sites when you have an issue/problem, or whenenever else you might check.
I use Maxthon for some of my Web activity - driver updates for one. I have a Group (collection of links) called Drivers. I open the group, check out the "Updated" date field and, more often than not, move on. Since I do this every month or so, I can easily detect a (possibly) new version.
Perhaps it is the cynic in me, but IMO, automatic driver management tools prey on the people least able to use them correctly. Again, IMO, such tools are written as a vehicle to generate sales or ad revenue.
Just my two cents.

I too agree. Those are completely useless.Couldn't agree more with Antman and Dwarf. That and the only drivers that should need to be updated are video and audio; bugfixes, new game comes out (and the driver is updated to support the game), etc. Everything else (motherboard, ethernet, etc) should only be updated if there is a fix listed that for a problem you are having; there is very seldom any performance benefit from updating these drivers, and in a lot of cases can mess up a working system by installing them.
Same here only it is Firefox and the folder is called Updates.![]()
Only if MS update has these updates....unless you downloaded the update, in turn you wouldnt need an update tool to startI too agree. Those are completely useless.
The best tool, imo, is the Device Manager. Just find the device you want to update, and right click and select Update Driver. Works amazingly well.

It does not use Update. It searches in MS database for new drivers. I have never had a problem with it.Only if MS update has these updates....unless you downloaded the update, in turn you wouldnt need an update tool to start
As stated before, go to device manager, figure out what ya got, and start googling going to the devices page for updates.
At first, I was going to let your earlier post slide. It does not use Update. It searches in MS database for new drivers. I have never had a problem with it.
..
But now, I have to challenge you....The best tool, imo, is the Device Manager. Just find the device you want to update, and right click and select Update Driver. Works amazingly well...
Oh, ok. Thanks for the explanation AntMan.At first, I was going to let your earlier post slide.
But now, I have to challenge you.
Where do you think Windows/MS Update searches for drivers? Both methods are different doors into the same room. In that room, you will find a limited selection of drivers.
Finding a driver for an obscure piece of hardware is challenging, and MS does not maintain a driver library for every piece of hardware in use or existence.
Each piece of motherboard/daughterboard/peripheral hardware LEGALLY sold in the US (and most countries, at least the ones with a reliable power grid) is assigned an FCC ID number, and that number is labeled on the device. At the lowest level, driver searches can begin there. Unless the device is pretty damned old, you likely do not have to go to that extreme.
Also, MS will use the lowest common denominator, or most common configuration, when archiving drivers. Just because MS might provide a driver for a given piece of hardware does not mean that driver is 100% appropriate or compatible.
The real gist of expert responses in this thread is: Don't use software sold as "Driver Miracle". There really is no such thing nor is there a valid need.
