What's the most you've ever copied/moved, and how long did it take?

Hey everyone. I didn't put this in one of the technical subforums because it's not really an issue I'm having. Rather, I just want to hear what others have to say on the topic.

In preparation for Windows 8, I bought a new 2 TB hard drive, and last night I decided to move all my data and documents over to a different drive (source using SATA-2, destination using SATA-3). I think it's the most I ever copied over, ever. Total size: a little under 350 GB. Total amount of time it took (using TeraCopy): roughly an hour and a half, I think.

What about you? What's the biggest migration you've ever done? Granted, everyone's mileage varies. I won't be surprised if it's commonplace nowadays to transfer a lot more than I do.

626GB from my 1TB hard drive to my 750GB hard drive, took about 3 hours, pretty good considering, i'm thinking about upgrading to a solid state soon, just to improve performance for loading times on programs

Yeah, I want an SSD for the same reason, but I'm "on the fence" at the moment. I just wish they were cheaper and more capacious.

But then again, what with the advancements in conventional hard drive technology and all the caching that goes on, I have little reason to complain. It's mainly boot times and initial loading of large applications and games.

I actually did the math ... that 350 GB of stuff that I moved would have to be stored on something like 2.3 million 5.25" floppies that I first used with my Apple //e. :shock:

The other day I copied 433 GB from a 2 year old Samsung to a 4 year old WD drive. Took 109 minutes, using a simple drag and drop, through an eSATA connection. The WD drive was in an external dock.

Are you guys like me, in that some of that massive data consists of full-length DVDs that have been ripped?

My, how times have changed.

Plus I should point out that TeraCopy is better at handling large files than many small ones, but overall it does a good job.

Yes. Video takes a lot of room, especially if you like better quality rips which take up a large footprint.

Like 200-300gbs,took around say a hour 1/2 to two hours.

I have transfered about 10'000 files of my documents folder onto my 80GB External HD for backup, these included 9'000 photos of buses.

Moved almost 2TB to a new 3TB drive, took around 5hrs. Started transfer before I went to bed.

Not surprised, because you were limited by the speed of USB2.0
