Hey folks,

So I use Google Chrome Canary as my main browser for about the past 10 months...

Is it true that all of my searches, browsing history, etc. is being "stored" on Google's servers?
I mean, I am not that interesting of a person- but still, I would like to know if some type of "dossier" is being kept on me unknowingly/unwillingly...

From what I have read yes, they keep track of everywhere you search. I block all cookies from Google except for YouTube. I would never use a Browser made by Google. If you have some free time read the EULA. I use Gmail but just as a throw away client. Firefox, which I use does not track you. I use the Nightly Builds and I even have the reporting data turned off. I just found out the other day that Google owns Motorola. Pretty soon they will own everything.

It's not the browser, it's the search engine. Whatever one you use will track you. You can opt out of any or all tracking from Chrome to Firefox to Maxthon. Also it only tracks your searches and/or habits as far as what to target for ads to show back at you. It's not like they grab your name, address, phone number, and such. I use everything Google. From Chrome, to Android, to Gmail, and even their own OS on a laptop. I've never had any issues at all. No "leaks" of my name. Nothing. I've been using Google for years. Everything they put out just works so well together. If you are really worried do what the poster above me said. Read the EULA, and even visit support forums on how to turn off, or opt out of any tracking. I don't know why people are always so worried about it. I guess they target Google since they are so large with their browser and search engine, but all browsers/companies do it to a certain degree. Like you I'm not that interesting of a person, so I don't worry. Also with the millions of people who get tracked would you really think there is someone sitting at a desk looking at your individual search history about cat toys?

Google's Chrome finally embraces Do Not Track, but with a warning | ZDNet

How to prevent Google from tracking you | How To - CNET

A couple of very good articles on the subject. If companies never tracked anyone there would be no need for Sand boxing. The fact is if the Government, any Government, wants your browsing history they can get it with a proper warrant at least here in the US. I place nothing on the net that I would not want anyone to see. It is like that old saying, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", well what you place on the Net stays on the Net.
