What's up with Google -- can't return simple search

Hi there.
Is it only me or is Google becoming more and more USELESS at returning sensible results these days.
I'm playing around with a few Linux distros at the moment and want to install VMWARE workstation on them -- so not being a Linux expert I type in a reasonable query essentially "Install VMware workstation on Linux xxxx as HOST".
Answer comes back with all sorts of rubbish as installing as GUEST !!!
(incidentally - finally solved how to do it - but no thanks to GOOGLE).
Screenshot enc.
If anybody could start again with another search engine that brings back the idea of how GOOGLE USED to work would probably net themselves an absolute FORTUNE.
Cheers

Funny thing... I used your query and found only your post here on sevenforums.
But, a slight change to
"Install VMware workstation on Linux as HOST"
returned

Hi, I tend to find that a search engine that uses the clustering method works better than Google when trying to filter out unwanted results.
There's also
gSeek, search google easier with a simplifed interface that can sometimes help a little.
Try a quick search for something that's usually hard to find when using Google search by using this search engine to see if you get better results:
Toegang tot Zoeken.nl geweigerd (Zoeken.nl)
Then narrow down the results using the filters on the right. It's not going to suit everyone but I use it a lot!
It's a Dutch search engine but the results usually display in English.
