What's your typing speed?

Since we have to make a log of every call and whatever we speak with the customer, my job requires a typing speed of 25-30 WPM. I have been working in call centers for 3 yrs now and my speed has gone upto 50 WPM.

What's yours like?

LOL. Age is obviously a great factor as you must be using computers when I wasn't even born. So I guess yours is superfast.

At one time, I typed 60 words per minute ... but not any more. I make too many typos

Still only use one finger really. I use the other for the shift key. I've only had a computer for about eight years and I never needed to type for my work so I never learned . aai'm judt sttemting this using all my figers but it's taking fore ver. It's quicker using one finger and les typos.

I've no idea now it's years since I've taken a speed test, I do touch type though although not completely I tend to have to look when typing the numbers and uppercase symbols on them.

It's been so long since I took a speed test I'm not even sure. I think it was around ~40 WPM 4 years ago. It's probably gotten worse since then. I had to learn all those stupid typing rules for a class I was taking in high school. I still don't do that mess of keeping my hands in place and only moving my fingers (my writing speed was 10 WPM trying to do that mess and 50% of the words were misspelled), but at least I use all of them now. That definitely sped things up a bit.

I think I'm quite fast, using all 10 fingers as you are supposed to. Had to take typing lessons when I started my translator course. But when I'm not really concentrated, I also produce many typos

Sounds like the same process I use John, real slow but less typos.

I was in high school in the 1960's. Mom had to force me to take typing class. Sometimes Mom does know best. Before computers, I made it a point to type my own stuff at work instead of giving it to the typist just to keep in practice. I have maintained about 45 wpm. Not fast, but it gets the job done.

I type with 2 fingers, do ok as I type all day in my job, but I look at the keyboard. When I was in high school, I took typing my senior year. Mechanical typewriter of course. I could have learned, but it was me and 30 girls, and I already had the credits to graduate. I learned something alright, but it wasn't typing

At one time I could type 50-60 wpm. After my stroke, It dive bombed so low that Im embarrassed to test it..

I learned typing in the Air Force as I was (initially) a "Ground Radio Operator" (morse code) and that required typing all messages as they were received (yes I know, morse code goes back to just after smoke signals).

I've been in teletype and then later computers in one capacity or another since 1962 in the Air Force and have had to type and thus have gotten relatively proficient. I don't know what my speed is and it doesn't really matter as I'm retired, just suffice that I can "touch type".
