OK, I'll ask someone to have a look at the update problem for you later. Now onto the stress tests.

STOP 0x124 Troubleshooting

Read carefully before proceeding.

   Warning
:warn: If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now. :warn:

   Note
Test the system once the overclock is removed before continuing with the steps outlined below.

ONE

 CPU TEST

:ar: Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them.

TWO

 RAM TEST

:ar: Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

picture.php

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.[/note]

THREE

 HDD TEST

:ar: Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html

:ar: Run chkdsk http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

FOUR

 GPU TEST

:ar: Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them.

MemTest86 or MemTest86+? There's a big difference. You used the one linked yes? How many passes? Time is irrelevant, number of passes are crucial.

Because of this in post #24 I do wonder what kind of cooling does this computer has. Do AMD's run that cool?

Yeah I was actually wondering the same thing....I have a Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 but that is kind of a budget aftermarket cooler.

That cooler isn't a bad aftermarket cooler, but it's nowhere near good enough to keep temps that low. What were you using to monitor the temps?

In the last couple of weeks on this forum I have seen where Hardware Monitor has been giving false readings to some.
At the present time I have more faith in Speccy and the bios readings.

A fellow AMD user might have a better suggestion.
RealTemp works good with Intel but I don't know how well it works with AMD.

This is the second instance in a couple of weeks where AMD rigs have not been giving true values with temperature readings. Could you boot into BIOS and check your temperatures in there, report back and post a screenshot/photo if possible.
