When can we download windows 7?

I know Windows 7 Launched Oct 22nd but wondered if anyone has been through a new software release with the Microsoft Store? I ask because I get off work around 11pm EST time on Wed and would like to download and install that night on my computers. I would assume it would be avail at midnight but with different time zones I just wonder how it would work out.

This is the first OS I have ever bought as a standalone, I always own some sort of OEM version with the computer I purchase, and I am just excited.

I would assume it would be available at midnight but wonder if they are going to slowly roll out accounts to avoid crashing the system.

Anyways, anyone have an answer?

If Microsoft Store is going to sell online at the Online Store it would probably be at 00:001 Pacific Standard Time on Oct. 22. As to crashing their system; you'll just have to take a chance.

I have to agree with Lee. It is highly unlikely that Microsoft would open the download option before the stores could sell the product.

I'm in the same boat as you, I purchased Win 7 with the download option.

I actually wouldn't expect it right at midnight, and yes I'd expect emails with download link and info to go out a bit staggered.

When long-awaited things have gone up places like Technet/MSDN before, I believe it's usually been morning in Redmond.

Anyway, if it's not up at midnight, I wouldn't stay up for it. Their bigger concern is going to be getting it out right with support staff available, etc., not getting it out the first second possible.

Doesn't the download come straight from the Microsoft Store Website? I would assume there would not be a special link. I could be wrong though.
