Greetings all,

This is my first post. Let me try to explain this as much as possible. I've been having this problem of when I first start up my computer the fans start spinning but the computer seems to start and then shut off like it has a short. Almost like a wire is loose touching and then not touching. Once it goes thru this for a few minutes then it will fire up all the way and run fine. I've gone back into my case and made sure that all cables were securely connected. Removed and reseated the memory in different slots as well as the video card. I'm thinking about removing the cpu and making sure that the pins are fully connected too.

Could this be a sign a my power supply about to go bad? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks for listening.

It could well be, or bad cable.

I uninstalled SP1 from my system and all above issues have been restored back to normal. SP1 definitely has major bugs that hog down the memory and causes BSOD frequently. Thanks.

What do you mean by SP-1 hog down the memory?

Yes. When I would be doing an encoding of a backup movie disc then it would eventually take my memory to the 100% and shut down my system. I'm running 64bit with 6gb of memory. Before SP1 was installed I never had that type of problem. I was able to run Photoshop, Illustrator and other Adobe programs at the same time and my system never BSOD before the SP1 was installed. Maybe it was a glitch but now it's running normal again.

Latest update to my previous issue. Find out that it was the newest ATI Video driver that was causing my system not to restore from sleep or a fresh start-up. Thanks for all who chimed in.
