When I type a 1 or 2 Application jumps to that screen

Windows 7 64bit / Dual Displays / Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000

PROBLEM
Now, this is weird, and sort of difficult to explain . . . When I type the number 1 or 2, the application window I'm working on jumps to that screen (Browser, Word, Notepad, etcetera). Screen one is on the left, screen two is on the right. Doing it right now as I type this. In other words, if I'm typing in a MS Word document on display two, and I type the number "1", the window jumps to display one.

Possible culprit: I purchased a StarTech 'USB2DVIE2' USB Display module that facilitates adding a third monitor via a USB connection. Didn't work well at all so I uninstalled the drivers.

I've updated the keyboard drivers, made no difference. Hey, Help appreciated, this is driving me nuts - Thanks, IM

Do you have any AutoHotKey scripts running?

That's the only thing I can think of.

Window jumping to monitors

I found this googling this exact behavior, and it led me in the direction of somewhat of a solution so I wanted to post it here since no one else had come up with anything better.

I would open up a non-maximized application and hit 1, 2, 3, or 4 and sure enough it would hop around on each screen. The application that started me looking into was one I had to log into and I had a password which had all four numbers but out of sequence, and every time I logged in the window would pop around from monitor to monitor in an apparantly random order, very distracting.

Over the years I have come to find that certain keys, control, alt, and shift, sometimes get their bit stuck on. And you can't really tell, except all of a sudden things like this start happening. So I hit control-3 and sure enough the window popped to monitor 3.

Here's the 'solution' then, hitting 1, 2, 3, or 4 don't cause my other app to flip around anymore. So it seems to me that this window jumping (or monitor selecting) behavior is a built in feature intended to be used with the control key. If you find it's doing it automatically, try tapping control-1, and then see if it doesn't go back to normal. At least in my case, today, on this specific machine this seems to resolve the monitor jumping issue.

As of now I have been unable to figure out exactly how I 'broke' it in the first place, so I can't make the auto-switch behavior start on demand...but then, why would you want that?
