Hello, I am new to windows so please be kind :)

I connect my usb disk but it does not show up in "my computer". Is there a command like "dmesg" that shows a log of devices detected? How can I find out _why_ my usb disk is not mounting?

any help loved, thanks!

In Event Viewer (via Administrative Tools) there's some log with the ending node Framework??.

It shows external USB devices being connected (power on) and disconnected (power off), but IIRC, it will NOT show USB thumb drives (maybe different power requirements).

Device Manager will also show all your USB ports and if it is recognized, you should see it there if you wade through the tree.

The problem was device manager did not recognize these devices and I was looking for something similar to dmesg that shows system device events. I cannot install or run 3rd party applications on this corporate machine. But that was long ago and I have given up listing devices in windows.
