I just upgraded a machine to 7. During the upgrade it said windows mail would no longer be available but it would save the emails and settings. I've installed Thunderbird and now I'm looking for the files it said it saved. I'm not sure where to look or what extension I should be Looking for. I thought it would be .eml but there doesn't seem to be any of those.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,

Do you happen to remember the names of some of the files? If so, maybe a search could turn them up.

I would also read this thread over at VF.

With Windows mail, it is saved under the mail boxes, the sent received, etc. It is at the bottom called archives. Hope that your find it.

Thanks to all. I can't look for it until morning. It's a friends machine. One question. If the .eml files are hidden would they show in a search result?

Hidden files are hidden, they do not want to be found. A standard search would not disclose their location.

When I installed Windows 7 on my Vista laptop, all my files created under Vista were automatically put into a directory on the C: drive called 'windows.old' . Did you check there?

Did you tranfer the mail using Windows Easy Transfer? I assumed that is what you did. If you did not the prior poster is correct, look for windows.old.
