I'm doing a reinstall on my dad's computer. He wants to keep browser history, configuration, speed dial, etc for everything. Opera has changed the path where this information is stored. Does anyone know where it is stored in version 29.x?

Short answer: I don't know as I still use Opera 12. I did use newer versions of Opera and from memory bookmarks were saved in the same way as Chrome.

However I'd wait for advice from other members to confirm this.

Also check the browser profile backup and restore software mentioned in this post as there's a good chance that it works with Opera 29 - but I've not tested it with Opera 29.

Suggest running it anyway to create a backup.

Testing it a little on a VM I found that the profile is stored in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software, which should include all bookmarks, history and the like. Copying the whole contents over to the same route in the new system should restore it to the same state (not tested that myself).

Generally speaking, when doing a blind shot for that kind of settings, a good place to start is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming and C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local, where good-behaving programs should store their settings. A less common but also used is the my documents folder.

bookmarks were saved in the same way as Chrome.

Because Opera 15+ IS Chrome :D

Callender: Personally, I stopped at Opera 12.17 because it is the last 64 bit version I know of. I don't know anything about Chrome except that I'll never use it. BTW, how does a program that's less than 50MB suddenly become 500MB after it's installed?

Alejandro85: My apologies, I forgot to mention that my dad still uses 32bit Windows XP. The old path for that is:C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Opera\Opera. Everything up to the date he updated to the newer version is still there.
You are partially right about copying the contents over except that, if you want to preserve all the configuration settings, you have to save the contents of both the Roaming AND Program Files (or Program Files x86 if using the 32 bit version) folders
