Where is MS going? Acrobat Flash & Reader

I have been with MS from th beginging, But I have lost my patients with them.

They have announced Win8 & havenot solved the problems with Win7. I had Acrobat Flash & Reader running & now both have quit.

Falsh player will not run with Win7 64bit. Acrobat reader will not reload because it cannot find MS Office. Why should Acrobat care where MS Office is.

I can remember when if third party programs would't run with Microsoft ther would be law suits against Microsoft.

I logged on MS Fix-It no help. Tried to get help with error code 1606 & received 4 pages of complex registry & other ways to correct th problem.

If they know the problem "Fix It"

Flash player will not run with Windows 7 64bit

Flash player is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit but the stable version only works with 32-bit browsers. A 64-bit beta is available for 64-bit browsers

Its not Microsoft fault if program developers don't make their programs compatible with Windows 7

Microsoft is in no way responsible for the programs and utilities users may use which can degrade the system performance. Its up to the user to properly maintain his system

Hmm, sounds as if you have other issues, Flash runs well on my X64 system. You can try a reinstall on Adobe reader.
MS is not responsible for making 3rd part software run, it is the developers' to write in in a way which works.
The windows 8 "announcement" is most likely a marketing ploy to pique interest in it. It is probably one or two years before it will be released.

Here's another way of looking at it -- even if what you say is true, why would Microsoft want to lag behind in it's potential for providing users with the most advanced technology (especially in this world of continual new technology of all kinds being made available) because some software makers aren't willing, able, or interested in keeping up with everyone else? As all of the other posters have said, that's not Microsoft's fault! And besides, no one is forcing any consumer to buy or use the newer technology, but it's wonderful to have it available for those who wish (or need) to use it. Technology is being advanced every day/week/month. Dell, for example, sends out a monthly catalog every month, and every single issue has a newer incarnation of Dell's systems available for potential customers.

None of this is valid. Both programs work just find on Windows 7, 32 and 64 bit, with or without Office. The OP has bigger issues on their system to deal with. Let's not get into a rant.

Me, Tullynally, again.

I took out my old Dell Laptop with XP Pro & everything worked.

I had Adobe Flash Player & Reader.

I connected to the web site that had live cams & they worked.

Non of these worked on Win 7 64 Bit!!

When I tried these on my Win7 64bit, Adobe Flash Player said "Won't work on 64bit Windows. Adobe reader said "Error 1606 can't find path to MS Office".

When I visited the web site with web cams, up popped a notice "You do not have Flash Player installed, please download Flash Player from following site" When I did I received the same error as above.

Come on guys, what is Your conclusion?

Adobe is still working on a 64-bit version of Flash Player and recommend you install the 32-bit version on your 32-bit Internet Explorer.

You can, if you wish, install the pre-release 64-bit version on your 64-bit version of Internet Explorer, but it will need to be uninstalled if and when Adobe get their act together and release the RTM version.

So, it would seem it is Adobe that have the issues and not Microsoft.

Go here and find the proper Flash Player and install. Adobe - Flash Player 32bit

Test page will tell you which one you need.

Don't try to use 64bit IE, it's still a bit wacky and not fully supported. Flash, Adobe Reader and Shockwave ALL working on my 64bit Win7 using the 32bit IE.

When did you actually TRY AND TEST this last.

Flash works perfecly with IE8 / IE9 on W7 X-64

Adobe reader has ZERO issues as well. No probs also reading / saving PDF files with IE8 / IE9 either. Same with embedded MS Office documents -- browser handles just fine.

You must have a really strange version of W7 !!!!

I notice you are located in an area that has a HUGE amount of IT outsourcing companies servicing and giving advice to literally 100'000s of IT people in the rest of the world --so I would assume that you have access to the latest software -- probably even before WE can get hold of it so you are equipped to provide the best quality advice and current state of the art to customers in US, Austraila, W. Europe etc.

I'm not saying MS is always good but it's a pointless exercise MS bashing without adequte info to back up what you are saying.
