Solved Where is the Control Panel folder located on C drive
Somehow my Control Panel folder has moved onto my desktop. I don't mean a shortcut - it's the actual folder so I need to move it back to where it belongs. Can someone tell me where it should be stored on the C drive please.

Hi chloe48, welcome to the Forum.
From the Control Panel select Recovery & see if you can run System Restore. Select one that would have been before the current problem occurred.
It's unlikely Control Panel has moved, it's more likely that your Desktop has been renamed or been moved to another folder.

Thanks for the reply Ranger4 but I've found the answer. Sometimes I think my brain needs a reboot. I must have accidentally clicked 'Show On Desktop" DUR!!!

"Control Panel" is a virtual folder created by the system software. There is no corresponding folder anywhere in the file system. The control panel applets are physically contained in the CPL files in the System32 folder. Some files contain more than one control panel applet. The details are undocumented and have changed somewhat with the Windows versions. There are other virtual folders including "Computer" and "Recycle Bin". The $RECYCLE.BIN folder in each drive is only the physical storage for the recycle bin files.
