Can anyone tell me where I can download the retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate? I have already purchased a legitimate key, and I just need the software now.
AFAIK, unless you have an MSDN/TechNet account. you can not download the software directly. Where did you get the key?? Didnt they supply the disc as well??

If you purchased the Key for cheap on a site like Ebay, the key might be bad. Make sure you keep all records of the transaction from Purchase and contact MS. This is the best way to see if your key is genuine. We have seen lots of these keys cause problems.

There are some for sale on ebay and similar. There are a lot of horror stories about buying non genuine keys.
The installation media has not generally been available separate from the key, simply because it has no intrinsic value and is not sold separately.
MS have made the install media available recently , presumably as a result of the debacle with the problems they had early on with the special student deal.
There are sites that have it for download.
It is no use without a valid product key.
It's probably best to contact MS who can also check out the key for you.

The Amazon links no longer work, but you can download one of the other versions and genericize the installer.
As others have said, the odds that your product key is "legitmate" are pretty slim. Third-party sellers are required by Microsoft to provide a COA (certificate of authenticity) with a sale of an OS license. Did you get one?
