I couldn't find much about Royal Discount (the first link) other than they do have an A+ rating with the BBB and have been accredited with them for about nine years. Their name is a misnomer though. None of the prices I saw could be considered discounted. If anything, they were a bit inflated.

I would never buy software from Amazon. When Amazon runs out of their own stock, they replenish their stock using one of their Marketplace vendors, which have been known to be sketchy to downright crooked. I have seen reviews complaining of software bought directly from Amazon that later turned out to be counterfeit. amazon has only a thirty day return policy and since it usually takes more than thirty days to find out software is bogus, most people are simply out of luck unless they really press the issue (such as take legal action).

I would trust NewEgg for software being genuine but they are also price gouging. The are wanting $239 for Office 2010 Home and Student 3 PK that originally had a SRP of $139 and I was able to catch on sale for $99. NewEgg is rapidly becoming RottenEgg.

Hi there

I like that -- "RottenEgg" -- I suppose it's all in the spirit of the times -- Gouge the Customers wherever possible and monetise everything.

Depending though on what you actually need to do with Office -- if it's just EXCEL / WORD and POWER POINT you want then go for the FREE WPS office (formerly Kingsoft Office) - seems to be compatible with the standard Ms applications far more than anything else I've tried.

Download WPS Office Free 2014 (formerly Kingsoft Office Suite ) Free

If you use a lot of COMPLEX VBA macros in EXCEL the paid for version (around 60 usd) works fine too. Licensed for 3 PC's.

WPS Office Pro for Windows - WPS

The Free one is probably good enough for most people - beats libre Office by far too.

Incidentally there is a LINUX version and still FREE !!! although it's alpha software so I wouldn't trust real production stuff on the Linux version - great for testing though.

http://www.wps.com/linux/

Note - tablet and phone users - there's also an android version (free). I use the android version on my phone - reads standard EXCEL without any problems.

(Note - there's no e-mail client in the suite - so it's basically equivalent to the Student and Teacher editions of Ms office).

Cheers
jimbo

hi! I'm new here, but I have had more trouble with Office 2010, and if was buying, I'd buy the newer version like 2013 or 2014..Why, Unless you buy Microsoft Office Business 2010, you will not get Windows Outlook 2010..Outlook only comes with the "'business"", and then be sure you get a ""working"" key code...that is a must.....
That's my problem, I have 2010 Office Home and Student, ( No Outlook )..So I ordered the Office Home and Business 2010, Back Up disc just to get 2010 Outlook..These were bought 4 days apart. I installed them, they worked great, until I did a Upgrade to Windows 7 Professional...In the upgrade, I lost Outlook and had to do a complete Install..So now, after the install, Microsoft Business sends the 25 key code, and it will not except it..I called, I email, and searched Microsoft Support web sites..I tell them , I was told to use the 25 key code that came with Home and Student when the Business Disc came..I did, I loaded and was excepted them..But today, just a little over a year later, they tell me I have no key code for the business office disc...Go figure..I called and raised all kinds of h@ll with everyone who would listen. the best I could get out them..They would gladly sell me a "'new" key code for my Microsoft Office Business less than 2 years old, for a mere $99.00 dollar. So now I am looking into a transfer cable that will transfer Windows Outlook program, not so much worried about losing email addresses, I just need the program of Outlook..rant is over..

Thank you for the information. Will the transfer cable transfer the entire program? I will be upgrading my computer at a future date. I currently have MS Office 2010 Business running on Windows 7

Transfer cable

There are many kinds of transfer cables, priced as low as $10.00, and as high as $150.00 or more. Many are only a "" one time use cable."" .So if you buy one, make sure you stay away from those.
As far as moving Outlook, I have yet to find one that says, It will move the complete Outlook program and its Files such as Emails and address book...That's what I am looking for...
All of them say, it will move the Outlook files, but in doing some research, I found lots of complaints that address books were lost during the process with the cheaper cables..
