Yes, I'd have to say that's where the problem resides. All the band gigs, clubs and portable music playing at full volume are deteriorating my hearing capabilities

A couple years back, I started becoming very conscious about this and started listening to my music player at very moderate levels. In-ear headphones cancel out the noise outside which give me a sense of comfort while listening.

Hopefully, my hearing problems don't grow worse.

Yup. Well, at least I'm now more careful with my listening levels.

Not to mention you will probably develop a constant ringing in your ears that will remain for the rest of your life JUST from being exposed to loud noise in your youth. I worked in construction hearing loud noises and liked to shoot at the rifle range sometimes without ear protection, and now for the last 20 years I hear a constant hissing in my ears. It sounds like when someone hits you in the ear and your ears ring for a while.

Age is relative and everyone has their own definition. My definition of old is:

"Anyone who is 10 years older than me is old..."

The criteria for young is the reverse. As long as there are people who meet the old criteria, I am just fine...
And just for the record Guy, you almost hit my definition of young...

One thing about getting in your 70's or above then life becomes like a roll of toilet paper. The closer to the end the roll gets, the faster it goes.
