I'm old enough to remember a time before home computers. And people were benig scared by The Forbin Project, and a movie about Them !

Past tense? I still feel that way, but I have learned to face my fears. Most computer users view the progress in this technology with eagerness. While I enjoy improvements, not everything on the cyber horizon is improvements.

A computer is somewhat like a firearm, a tool that can be used for either good or evil, depending on who is doing the aiming, and holding the trigger. However, unlike a firearm, computers are more like WMDs, because they can effect large masses of people at the same time.

The irony is that most computer users have been lulled into an euphoria believing that they are the one's holding the trigger and doing the aiming. Computers are a little like drugs, at first a person can only see the good in them, and the change can be likened to putting a frog in cool water and turning on the heat. The frog never realizes what is happening...until it is cooked.

If you don't understand what I'm croaking about, join us frogs.

A built in contradiction here - I fall into the oldies group but I can not help to watch the herd. I taught electronic systems when the 8080 was a rave but the technology has advanced too fast for me to keep up.

"There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."
Some dude

The poll is skewed. Every age category is a 5 year group. Except the "oldies". That group could be 25+ years depending on health. Whoever made the poll must have thought that users fall over dead when they turn 60!

The first group is skewed too, true. But that is a fixed 15 year group. We only occasionally get posts from infants here. They tend to get banned quickly.

Yes, it is skewed but I do not believe that that makes it incorrect or inaccurate. Those of us who reside on the upper end of the curve know that our numbers are naturally diminished and same at the other end (but for the opposite reason).

I am curious what three or four additional categories on the upper end would have shown but only because I would reside in one of them.
