Why agonize over this?
Pick the one you like and rock on. They both work fine.

Try a bunch. Personally I prefer Firefox, but Google Chrome is gaining a lot of support rather quickly as well.

Firefox is the "better" browser by all the benchmarks that I've seen and has access to hundreds of great and not-so-great addons to make your web experience better in various ways.
I'd suggest using Firefox and grabbing an Internet Explorer 8 theme for it. That way you get all the advantages of Firefox and can have the Internet Explorer 8 look and feel when you're in the mood for it.

I use IE8, but at the end of the day it's up to you as to which browser you choose to use. It's really a matter of which one you feel more comfortable and familiar with.

Go for Opera, have been using it for months and I just love it, you just gonna have to get used to it at 1st but after going through it's settings for a little you should be set.

Use whatever you like. I prefer FF as I use it in both Windows and Linux and I have grown attached to a few of the plug-ins that I use.
