Which Card???

I want either:

I cant decide and cannot find the right information and need some help, firstly are these cards worth the price and secondly will these cards run a a 300W PSU? Thanks.

If you go to the manufacturers web site for each card and check the minimum system requirements it will tell you what power supply you need to run the card. It should say something like minimum of xxx watts with X amps on the +12v rail. Looking at the detailed specs will tell you which one has the faster clock speed, number of shaders etc.

Right thanks for replying, will I need a 450W PSU for both cards becuase on the feedback for the Asus Radeon HD 4650, he has said:

"I only have a 220 watt power supply in a small form factor HP DX 7900 machine."

I do not rely want to go to the trouble getting a new PSU so looking for a card that can copy with 300 Watts. I have also used a PSU caculator and it gives me under the 300W mark using this card plus 4 extra RAM modules (for upgrading later).

The only way to really find out is to try it. Like I said though you should check the minimum system requirements for the card you plan to use.

minimum of 500w with a multi core system. i would not recommend anything less than 550. gives some room for overhead.

I don't think the OP has a small form factor PC, he just said that someone posting a review had one. I think he was thinking if it worked for him with his 220 w PS it should work for me. Small form factor doesn't necessarily mean a normal sized graphics card won't work. A big high end card probably wouldn't fit and even if it did it would probably over heat, but a good mid range card would likely be OK. I'm thinking you might be confusing low profile with small form factor. in that case you are correct. A full size card won't fit in a low profile case and the low profile card probably won't have the same performance as a full sized card.

Well, seeing as they're both 1GB cards with the same chip on them, I should think the advantages/disadvantages are limited to type of cooling and therefore overclockability + noise level, connectivity and not much else I guess.

Consider what you want it for. If you want to overclock, get the one with the biggest fan. If you want a quiet PC, get the one with the smallest fan or even passive cooling. I should think that no matter what one you choose performance will be about the same at stock levels seeing as they're essentially the same card.

I notice the Gigabyte one has an OC in the model number so it may already be overclocked. If it is it should be the faster card.
