I run X-Plane 11 on a mini format PC: i7-4790K @ 4GHz, 16GB RAM.. but the GTX970 4GB is a bottleneck and I am thinking of biting the bullet and buying a 1080Ti. X-Plane would certainly run a whole lot better on it (the 3.5Gb limit on the 970 is quickly reached and the throttling back begins).
But can anyone say which of the many versions would be best? The choice I have in practice is between a Palit, or a Zotac mini. On performance, I am not sure there's all that much in it. The only reason I might not prefer the Zotac is that it runs pretty hot most of the time (so I read). In a smaller (ThermalTake) case, that might be more of an issue?
There are various versions of the Palit out there - GameRock, JetStream, Founders Edition... none which means a thing to me.
Could anyone help me decide here? It's a big outlay (I need a 2TB Evo 860 SSD too) so don't want to make the 'wrong' decision... I might even be better off (literally anyway) getting a GTX1070Ti - I am not sure that the 1080Ti isn't overkill for what I need.
Thanks.
Martin
