Solved Which is Better: AVG Free 2014 or Avast 2014?

I currently have AVG 2014, but i actually wanted to try out a new antivirus program. I wanted to know which one offers the best protection against viruses. But so far i have only been seeing mixed reviews about both programs so i came here to get a better answer from the community !

(Note: I know i cannot have more than one Antivirus programs on my PC which is why i will be removing AVG if Avast is recommended the most. I also have Malwarebytes on my computer as well since that program is Standalone & causes zero conflict with AVG)

hey all I have used and still use avg free and avast free on different computers and have no complaints with either one of them. avg does have a lot of extra crap that is useless but avast does also except with avast you can opt out of it when downloading it. they are both real good free antivirus programs. I also use malwarebytes free and superantispyware free and have no complaints with either one of them. with the above mentioned software and common sense web habits one can be pretty safe in my opinion. poorguy

never installed the toolbar for avg or there search web page. I do the custom install and only install what is needed.

Avast! is certainly way better than AVG but if you want a speedy computer, then use the Good Security Combination that ThrashZone suggested. It will help you to protect your computer from malware and also not bloat your computer up. If I'd pick something between AVG and Avast!, I'd certainly pick the latter and the reason is clearly explained by Devlin1888.
