Alright, installing SP1 now. Everything SEEMS to be in order other than my PC being a little sluggish, but that's probably because I'm installing the Service Pack. One thing I did mess up on, I forgot to save the HP Wallpaper that my PC came with. That was cool Wallpaper.

I'm sure it will run much better faster then it was previously set up based on all the extra crap hp throws onto thiere systems .

That of what you speak of will always be downloaded through win update don't have to worry about that .

Once you have installed a retail version you pretty much get everything from updates to driver fixes if you don't need them already .

Other then that MS will give you the visual c+++redistribute

I would have waited for SP1 official release rather than installing RC on a clean install.

I would also not run Norton on any Win7 install, but instead use MSE or Avast5 with Windows Firewall for best performance.

Updates will normally deliver Visual C++ Redistributable if you have programs that depend upon it. However you can install from standalone just to be sure it's there in case needed: Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

Were you able to activate using Product Key on COA sticker?

Yes that worked fine. I think MSE is too basic for me personally. I haven't had any issues with Norton at all.

Do you notice the performance difference from factory install?

As long as you're getting Win7's native instantaneous performance without any hangs then install is not being hampered by anything done or installed thus far.

I didn't notice a difference at all. Only hang was when I was installing SP1, which took a lot longer than normal.

Can I put the System Image on a seperate Partition in my HD?

Win7 reimaging app will not detect it in most cases on the same HD, however free Paragon 10 or Macrium will I believe.

It is always better to store the image on an external or another computer on network so it is available in case of HD failure/replacement.

You may want to wait to get SP1 installed upon release before saving your image as you have the RC on there now. It's reported you'll have to reinstall in every case.

One thing I did notice. When I did the primary partition thing, it said my total space was 465.8gb Ehats taking over the 34.2gb

Nothing is taking it over. Hardrive manufacturers measure a gigabyte with 1,000 mb.

A true gigabyte is actually 1024mb. You never truly get what hard drive manufacturers have listed on packaging.
