Which is the best e-mail client

I am still experiencing problems with Microsoft Outlook and would like recommendations on the best e-mail client to use.

The answer partly depends on whether you want your email to be internet based or computer based. For me, I want to be able to access my email easily from any computer anywhere, so I choose an email client that's internet based. Currently, I have Yahoo Mail (along with Yahoo Messenger), Windows Live (formerly Hotmail or MSN) with Windows Live Messenger, and Gmail. I find Yahoo Mail to be superior to the other three, because it gives so many more customization options as far as the ability to personalize almost every feature. I have recently upgraded to Yahoo Mail Plus, which for a small annual fee, gives me a ton of storage and the ability to send and receive very large files. Yahoo Mail admittedly does have its quirks, but all in all, I prefer it to the others.

I like Windows Live.Free download and it can be installed on the desktop. Your isp email can be received on it as a separate account. Live mail as mentioned can be accessed on any PC that has Internet access. It also has storage space and allows you to post files that can be viewed and downloaded by your friends and family.It is new and different than outlook express and Windows mail so it has a learning curve. Since you are asking for a client, the most popular non-Outlook ones, which happen to be free are Windows Live Mail for Win7, Windows Mail for Vista, Outlook Express for XP, and Thunderbird for any of them.

I like Thunderbird because it is available for and works (with all my add-ons) on all 3 platforms that I use.

I understand, Jack. I also had enough problems with Outlook that I stopped using it. I tried Thunderbird but I switched to TrulyMail about nine months ago and I really like it. It's free and they have a portable version so you can take it with you wherever you go... without leaving emails on the server (I prefer not leave my emails under someone else's control).

I've been using Outlook ever since it was released. I love it. It really is the best and most customizable email client if one understands all of the options.

My problem with Outlook is, on a couple of forums I use on a daily basis I am marking threads for replies and not receiving them.
This is since I changed to Windows 7 and Outlook.

Now I am now using Gmail and the replies are flying in.
So I do not know if outlook was my problem or maybe my ISP.

I have the same problem. I use AT&T and they block emails that appear as spam. You can contact them to try to get those removed from their list, but you need a whole lot of info.

So, I just open the forums that are blocked by AT&T and read my "subscribed threads."

WartHog, I have not used AT&T for about three years and things certainly may have changed; but when I used it, I had the option to turn spam blocking off in the user controls.

When using Outlook make sure you download MS Outlook Connector.
After doing this I have had no issue's with Outlook at all.....IMHO

Thanks Carl, but I did that. I actually spoke with AT&T and they said their system will automatically block some ISPs if it looks like that email address is getting spam from that ISP. I was able to get them to allow the email from one of my forums, but it is still hit and miss with that one. It'll let PM notices through, but not notices for threads I've subscribed too.
