Solved Which monitor is best for gaming-- with a price max of $1,000

This would be more of a part 2 thread.... but with more detail so that I can finally make my mind up!

I currently have a Philips BDM4065UC and I am beginning to believe I have purchased the wrong monitor.

I won't be 4k gaming, but I DO want a glossy monitor. The only time I won't consider it is if they are being phased out for some reason. (I don't see why they would be).

My budget is $1,000. What's the best monitor (or monitors) I can get for this price range? As large as necessary.

If you believe the monitor I have is okay... let me know! I'll probably have to lower the resolution when gaming so that the 4k doesn't destroy my GTX 970...

I also think those ultra-wide monitors are a bit much.... I don't want my games to be distorted.

Personally I would put the money into a new 980ti pick your own brand the Zodiac looks wicked clocks pretty wicked too :)

Alrighty. Hopefully you're still around. I'm in another dillema. I decided to return the 4k monitor. I'm now stuck between getting the Acer 1440 IPS 144Hz monitor (sold out currently), or the Acer XB270H. I'm also open to the BenQ monitors nd this Philips 272G5DYEB that there seems to be really now review about. however my issue is with quality control. I've seen so many videos recommending one monitor.... while online reviews on let's say Amazon or new egg report quality control issues.... I'm willing to stay with 1080p for now.... as long as the kinks have been worked out. I just don't want to end up spending $700 on a Gsync monitor (I'm wanting Gsync) if I'm just going to get tons of dead pixels... or light bleeding etc.

Not sure with your budget I would look into a Sony
Just remember your gpu is going to be the maker or breaker of any monitor 2k or 4k
I'm not sure which I would get I would get one that Amazon sells and ships
Which there is only 2 Philips or BenQ
I'd say try the Philips if you have issues report them asap or send it back.
