MS is really beginning to upset me. I have to go to the update catalog because both of my desktops & my laptop will no longer find updates - they just set forever, searching for updates. All three of these computers had found, downloaded & installed updates(important ones only) up until recently. When I get to the update catalog, I am now presented with "security monthly quality rollup for windows embedded standard 7 for x64-based systems" or "security monthly quality rollup for windows 7 for x64-based systems".

Can someone enlighten me on what is the difference? Thanks

Thanks, but my question is what is the difference between "security monthly quality rollup for windows embedded standard 7 for x64-based systems" or "security monthly quality rollup for windows 7 for x64-based systems"? Both of these are presented on the Windows Update Catalog.

You don`t need embedded.

Do reply #2 from this thread, follow Mike`s instructions, it will fix your update issue.

Windows Update will not update and I've tried multiple fixes

You should not be installing what MS calls important updates until you read its description to see if you want/need it.

And set Windows Update like this.
