which should i do first?

hi which i do first, make a rescue boot disc, total system image
(of just my c: drive,) or other backups (my other programs, music, games etc)?

What exactly do you mean by a "rescue boot disk"?

Regardless, your first priority should be to back up your personal data to a drive other than the drive containing your C partition---without using an image.

"Total system images" are a distant second. Most people don't use them at all, although I do.

Hi,

It depends entirely what you aim to achieve with the image. If you have no other means of backing up user data, then image everything. Create one image for the system, and another for the user data.
