Stay away from Torrents  this is the worst way to download something and the chance you will get caught is pretty high !

Why to stay away from torrents? It's actually the opposite, torrents right now are among the best channels for downloads of any kinds (since the censorship of Megaupload) and is also a good way of exchanging data between friends. And what means "get caught"?

I'm using 3.2 and works flawlessly too. What problems did you had? It just installs like all others and works the same. Except for the few banners for buying the paid version, I didn't find anything annoying with it.

It wouldn't load torrents correctly, intermittently pausing or stopping them, VERY VERY horrible d/l speeds. I uninstalled 3.2, installed 3.1.3 and everything was lovely. I did update when it first became available, they probably have worked out the bugs now.

I recently formatted my machine and installed version 3.2. Minutes after installation I received a BSOD, while adjusting the preferences. I've been googling this issue and numerous people have had similar issues with 3.2.

Prior to my format I was using the previous build, I assume 3.1 and it worked perfectly. I'm hesitant to try 3.2 again and will most likely try and find an older version.

I think what was meant was that ...

99% of those who use torrents are downloading things illegally. Hacked/Pirated Software etc. and the chances of getting malware, viruses or worse is very high in this situtation.

Very few actually use it for legit reasons. Im not saying there aren't those who do use it for legit reasons, only that its very very few who do.

Personally, I don't see the point. Anything you can get legally from torrents can be found from the official websites for free as well, and downloads much faster. Plus you know 100% sure what the source is.
But thats just me.

I don't use torrents, so as a matter of interest what actual material can be downloaded that is legal and that cannot be obtained elsewhere? You don't have to answer this question, just interested.

Stay away from Torrents  this is the worst way to download something and the chance you will get caught is pretty high !

I would like to put in my two cents and say that we should stay away from this sort of argument in this thread as the OP was simply asking what we use. Torrents are a fantastic method of downloading software and it really is a shame that more people don't utilize it for legitimate purposes. There are a few, however. Some Linux distros offer torrents as a download channel--what's great about it is that the more people that have it and are seeding, the faster your downloads can be. Doesn't have to be dependent on one single webserver, although true that most will suffice for a good speed in other ways of downloading.

The skinny of it is, Torrents are for advanced users. Be careful what you download, thoroughly scan, and if you're worried about your ISP snooping on you, utilize magnet links. uTorrent supports these--do your research if you're concerned about that.

Back on topic, I also utilize uTorrent, currently 2.2.1. I haven't seen a need to upgrade and worry about them limiting functionality in future releases. I have a central media server at my house that I do all torrent downloads on and I have an Android app called Torrent-fu that connects to the web management console of uTorrent and enables me to manage my torrents and downloads from anywhere--it's fantastic!

I don't use torrents, so as a matter of interest what actual material can be downloaded that is legal and that cannot be obtained elsewhere? You don't have to answer this question, just interested.

As I said earlier in my post, quite a few Linux distributions and other open-source software vendors utilize torrents to offload bandwidth from their webservers. I think that mainstream companies don't utilize torrents due to the potential security concerns in addition to the negative connotations associated with torrents in general.

Can't all these legal things be downloaded safely and correctly without a torrent? Torrents are well know for installing infection even with well protected system. P2P and torrents are well know to any body that uses a computer more than a month of being one of the best ways to get infected. I'm still trying to understand why downloading using a torrent to download a legal copy of a operating system, music, programs or movies ect. using several computers all of the world sending pieces parts and then the receiving computer puts all the pieces parts together is the best way. The receiving computer has opened a port to allow the torrent to enter their computer with what ever it wants from one or several computers around the world.
Yes I do read the post and they so far don't add up. 2+2 should =4 and it's not.
So I'm still trying to understand why all the great free, legal programs out there can't be downloaded from the proper legal website without a torrent. As of now nobody has given a answer in anyway what so ever that makes 2+2=4. Please try harder so my simple little brain will understand.

Because depending on the popularity of the file (popularity=seeds) the faster the file will download, just take the game "Maplestory" for example, downloading from that game site will take about 2 hours, but when I torrented it took me around 10 Minutes,
Like some people said, torrents are good, but not just all the time.
