I would say about a 6-8 inch card Emachines are pretty compact and little room to add

Looking at your specs you should look into a used HD5770 or a LOW PROFILE 6870 anything newer might cause your hardware to hold it back Bottlenecking

How about a card like, say, the 750ti? Would it fit?

We can't really tell the exact amount of room you have from here. You will have to measure inside your case to see how much room you do have; measure from the PCI covers to the end of where the card will be. Since cards in the size range you will be looking at will have the power connector on the card, subtract 3/4" from your measurement. Using the results, you can start looking at cards at a vendor site that gives a good description of their products. I like to use NewEgg because they have detailed specs. Card lengths are usually at the bottom of the specs in the Specifications tab.

Also, make sure you determine whether your board will support PCI or PCI-e; the two are not interchangeable.
