I have applications 1) which I need to display and compose text in Russian cyrillic and 2) another in which I need to display and compose text in devanagari and transliterated devanagari (e.g., t with a dot under it, r with a dot under it, a with a long mark over it, etc). I currently have a Vista Ultimate machine with which I can do this but the machine is failing such that I am investigating a new machine. Note: I do not need to have the OS converse with me in any of these characters.

Which Windows 7 is appropriate for me? (I think any of them, but I am only making sure that I do not have to go with Windows 7 Ultimate.)

Thanks.

Hi DrdaveR, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Assuming you want to have Windows itself (display language) in English and use Russian and Hindi > Devanagari as input languages (keyboard layout), all versions of Windows 7 can do this.

However, as a multilingual Windows user myself (Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 with user accounts in 4 languages) I wholeheartedly recommend to get Windows 7 Ultimate, as it allows you to download both Russian and Hindi language packs as optional updates and create different user accounts completely in Russian respective Hindi.
