I can't find the other thread here but it includes help from a PhD student who is aware of the issue where Microsoft is downloading and attempting to install Windows 10 on Windows 7 and 8 machines through Windows Update on Patch Tuesday without the user's knowledge or consent.
This issue has also been reported on by the Inquirer. I had to buy a new computer with Windows 8.1 in order to work as this issue stopped my Windows 7 computer for the time being. I started using Windows 8.1 only to find the same issue. This time I was able to resolve it.
What I need is a connection to this PhD student who posted on the other thread or to anyone else who has a list of each of the specific Windows 7 updates so far that I should avoid when I get my previous system back up in order to avoid repeating the same issue with Windows 10 sneaking on my system.
I'm sure this issue hasn't escaped the notice of many users by now. Can anyone with knowledge of this issue and its solutions assist?
