While opening any map it keeps loading

Hello everybody.

I am busy to make my old Gaming laptop ready to use for my mother.:shock: (no not a gamer if you think so)
There is only 1 problem and this happens sometimes.

When I open any map, so let's say My documents I get to see a empty map and on the left side of the screen you can only see the root directories (So no Subs) and on everyone there is a magnifying glass.
The loading of this is endless and there is no error message.
Even when i go to the configuration screen it is empty.

Internet and programs are running fine.

Some time the problems solves itself (but that can take a lot of time).
Restart does the trick for a while.
So ..... not consistent

If your giving the pc to your mother, just reformat and reinstall windows.

Yes that would be the easy way only de code on the windows 7 sticker is worn out.
You can't make anything of the code anymore.
So activating windows will be a problem than.

Are there other options?

You might be able to find out your windows product code from speccy.
