White rectangle over desktop icons

Hi all,
I tried to install the Vista Shortcut manager and the install did not finish. Now all of the desktop icons have a white rectangle on top of the icon. I cannot rid the white rectangle. I have tried deleting the iconcache file to rebuild the icons but not successful.

It is a new HP touchsmart 310 computer. This is driving me crazy.

Try searching for all files created when you did the failed install and removing them.
