Who's switching to Windows 8 once its released?

I think I'm going to go ahead and stay with Windows 7 unless windows 8 has something amazing that will convince me to upgrade.

For those of you that don't know, longhorn was the codename for Vista.

I think xp and 7 have been the best so far... I'm on the same page, especially since upgrading ain't free either.

I actually never experienced any problems with Vista when I used it. Not too bad :p

But XP and 7 are my favorites, too.

I still have an unopened retail version of Vista. I run two XP machines and one Windows 7. I'll probably stay with 7 at least until the "Bug" list gets short or SP1 is released. I've got too much invested in software to be reloading an OS to fix something all the time.

Generally speaking, I don't upgrade current machines to new operating systems as I don't want to pay for a new license. 8 is going to have to come out with some great features, must have security, or otherwise I plan to stay with Windows 7 which has been by far my best experience with Windows in a long time. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Same here. I'm thinking that if someone comes out with a decently specced tablet that runs W8, I'll probably get one. The tiled interface I've seen so far seems leaps and bounds over anything else out right now. In my opinion, W8 on a touch device is going to overshadow all other touch interfaces. I have a gen 1 iPaid and really hate doing anything web related. Lack of Flash is a true hinderance.

However, unless I have need to actually replace my desktop/laptop and it already has W8 on it, I don't see any reason to update.

This machine was given to me when my dad bought a new computer. I keep throwing upgrades at it and it keeps on ticking. Think I've done everything to it that can be done outside a PSU upgrade so I can run an even BETTER GPU.

I am still enjoying Win 7 (still learning). If Win 8 is directed toward the cloud, I wouldn't be interested at all.

I wouldn't mind being one of the pre release testers.

I'd have a reason to get another SSD to install it on. :D

Considering the pricing on Win7 I'm not sure anyone will be able to afford a retail copy of Win 8.

Win7 Pro actual retail is $265. Suggested retail is $299.99
Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

That will put W8 at $350-400 if they go as they did before with XP to Vista and Vista to W7.

Looks like W7 for me.

Hells yes! I'm stoked about using the new UI, like the Start Screen and maybe the Windows Explorer Ribbon if that's designed nicely.

And of course, the streamlined video performance and the better security features that might make it into the RTM.
