My WIN7 home Prem won't install on this new disk. Says a "dynamic" HDD is not suitable. I don't know what I did wrong. When I format it appears as a dynamic disk. At present I have deleted the newly created 'dynamic' partition & the HDD at present is one big lump of unallocated space.

I haven't done this for so long I've forgotten what to do or where I erred. Please run me through the HDD pre-install preperation.

SOLVED: found this tutorial. I used #2. Easy.

Boot with the W7 dvd - press Shift & F10 to access the command prompt at first input screen.

Type: diskpart

When done deleting the volumes, or if none:

Exit and reboot and start the installation again. Let W7 do the partitioning and formatting.
