Did you do any reg tweaks or cleaning before this issue arose? If you have a restore point before the issue, use system restore. Is this issue specific to google? Have you tried Bing, Yahoo or DuckduckGo search engines?
opera portal is really great thanks. I did try other search engines and other broswers and it still the same.
I dont want to do a system restore as i need to back everything up first - put it may be an option soon if i cant fix it any other way - i know it started happening from the 22nd May 2011 so not sue what it is.
I do regular cleaning to make sure its as fast as possible. Although another option is that i might need for RAM.
Do u know any other options to try out.
It happens on all browers but more ofton on google chrome.
I have avg as that might be the issue so i might install a vast instead to see if that helps.
Do u recommend any other malware programs to use just in case as my spybot i dont think is good enough.
My anti-malware combo is MS Security essentials, Malware bytes anti malware free edition (for on demand weekly scans), Peerblock and a HOSTS file .. never failed me! Give any of these a shot .. malware bytes works very well and often fixes my friends messed up PC's
The next time you install windows please do not run *any* registry cleaning programs. I used to swear by those things back when I used to use XP but please don't touch them now - they're more trouble than they're worth. I've had horrid issues with my system when gaming or with videos. Leaving UAC at default and leaving the registry alone actually helped my system's reliability and security. RAM won't make an impact beyond 2GB if you don't play games or do heavy multimedia/photoshop work.
System restore won't affect your documents and it will state which programs will be affected before you do so, it's safe.
BTW the SFC /Scannow command might also help if your scans turn out clean. Do run malware bytes .. it's very good!
I lurk on a couple of forums and AVG isn't as highly regarded as it used to be, it won't be a bad idea to switch your AV program. Avast! is also well regarded. Try that or MSSE.
It just that when i go on google my broswers crash all of them. But if i go on facebook etc they dont crash. Has anyone any suggestions i will try malwarebytes and see if it helps as i have stopzilla and that found some. thanks schroff87 for your help. Its a constant broswer crashig on seach engines i have trouble with.
It's surely a malware issue if only the major search engines are affected. Be careful next time and consider using the software recommended .. they're free and non-intrusive. Also, leave the registry alone - you're not going to get any performance improvement by removing keys which, when added up, would be less than 16 KB's worth.
