Why are some websites not accessible?

I have one computer and one laptop. All of a sudden the desktop cannot access Google.com and two other websites. The connection just times out. The laptop is able to access these websites - both are on the same network. Also, I restored an old backup when things were working just fine, and I am still not able to access the websites. What could be causing this? BTW, they are both set up the same with Win7-64

msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,

An ipconfig /all would also help. From both machines, pls.

1. Get to an elevated command prompt
2. Type IPCONFIG /all
3. Post your results here.

You can also see if the sites work in Safe Mode with Networking (also possible confirmed with ThrashZone's suggestion of a clean start)

Could you let us know what security programs you use?

I have a cable modem and a WD N900 router. I plugged straight into the modem and everything worked fine. This meant that the problem was the router. I saved a config file, then put the router back to factory settings, then rebooted the router. Then I restored the backup config file and now the router works fine. The router is about 4 weeks old, so hope this is not a problematic router.
