Why did MS remove the Windows orb at startup in Win 7 ?
Hey
I've been curious for a while as to why MS decided to remove the start orb from Windows 7 ?
I liked it in Vista.
It's too bad

the general idea from reviewers is they wanted to distinguish windows 7 from vista to avoid a negative image.

Are you talking about the Start menu button in the Taskbar? or the boot sequence logo? Because the Taskbar still has the orb, it just doesn't protrude anymore. Why they changed it, I have no idea... valtonray's comment sounds accurate.
