Why does WD Passport drive cause a BSOD sometimes

I have 2 different fairly new 1TB Passport drives that often cause a BSOD when I first plug them in to start using them but after it reboots and I choose a Normal reboot from the list, it seems to work ok. I try to be very careful to use the Safely Remove option when I'm done.

I tried reformatting them but it still happens sometimes, mainly on 1 of my 2 computers.

How can I fix this permanently?

It seems that you have a driver conflict, but is hard to tell.

Thanks for the reply,

It just seems really strange that it is mainly a problem on 1 computer and not on the other?

Sorry, I meant that you have a driver conflict.
Try to use MSConfig to find out what it is causing the BSOD.
Open MSconfig and disable all startup programs. Under services, hide MS services and disable all others.
Reboot and connect the 1TB Passport. If it works normally, you will have to find out witch program / service you disabled is the bad guy.
Enable hath, reboot and connect the 1TB Passport. If you have a problem, the bad guy is on the fist hath, if not, it's on the second hath. So disable hath of the suspected hath. Reboot.
Keep going (disable hath of the suspected hath) till you find the bad guy.

Megahertz07,

I only have a total of 6 files checked off on startup at MSCONFIG including Vipre & Malewarebytes.

When you save "hide MS services" are you talking about services.msc?
If so, I am not clear how you "hide"" an entry.

SIW2,

Thanks for the link.
It looks like I have about 150 entries and I am not sure I want to dive into that.
