Why does Windows Viewer minimized every viewed pic?

1. Is there any way to keep Windows Photo Viewer from leaving every pic I view, minimized down in the task bar?
When I scan pics (sequentially numbered .tif files) I just want to view them and Not have them automatically saved at the bottom.

2. Conversely, is there a way to delete the #$%^ minimized pics with 1 motion instead of having to delete each one individually from the task bar?

3. It's also annoying that if I actually hit the up/down/enter keys to continue scanning vs the right/left arrow keys, the viewer usually locks up and I have to then manually click on the right/left viewer arrows to continue scanning.

4. Is there a better viewer I should be using?

I'd right-click the Taskbar, click Properties and on the Taskbar tab and in the Taskbar buttons: section choose "Always combine, hide labels" then you can right-click the group of icons and choose "Close all windows". I do it frequently as I nearly always have 2 copies of Firefox and 2 or more copies of Windows Explorer open at the same time.

Thanks Berton, we'll give it a try.

PS: Just in case, is there another Windows Viewer that you could recommend if I wanted to pursue it?

There's a few good ones, some free such as Irfanview and Gimp. A paid-for program would be Alchemy Mindworks Graphics Workshop, not too expensive.
