Hello fellow W7 users
My seven has been back on line for about 3-4 months, in the beginning of which Fox and MS sent a ton of updates, then the updates all slowed down.
But the past week fire fox seems to be updating me every day, My machine is set to ask permission first.
Is this the new normal.

Jim

Any program set to automatically install updates (which, BTW, is always a bad idea) will update whenever a new version is published, which means that Firefox could be releasing quite a couple of changes within a short interval. This isn't unheard of, specially in open source programs.

Maybe there was a surge in found bugs and rapid fixes are coming every days, maybe there is a new feature, maybe there are a few small improvements. You can watch Firefox release lists for more details on what's going on.
The thing is, automatic updates can happen at any moment, if you leave them enabled, watch out for them.

I use Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit (updated to June 2020) in some of my PC's because I like it better than Windows 10.

With the exception of its antivirus app, Microsoft Security Essentials 4.10.209.0, I don't allow any apps or device drivers to automatically update.

When it's time to update of them, I do it manually.

This avoids issues, and it reduces the number of running processes.

Microsoft Security Essentials has let me get virus'ed twice. once by just clicking on a picture of a motorcycle on google images, something called the Ha Ha virus, which i escaped by closing the whole page down/off
My computer is set to "Only Notify Me" but with firefox if i say (Click later) "later" they are back the next day, asking for the right to down load again.
I may just be used to my XP I used till just a few weeks ago, that never seemed to get up dates.
funny as I write this I just got a windows security update for win 7 x 86
I thought windows 7 was no longer supported ?

Does any one have light on this ???

they just tried to jam me with "edge browser" I deleted it asap, for me there's not enough morality for other peoples personal space as seen in windows 10 at MS.
